Bear Flair: Knit your own eco-Teddy competition
The Toft Alpaca Shop is proud to launch a national competition in conjunction with their NEW knitting kits for 2008. The Toft Teddy Bear kit is made using 100% recycled packaging and contains all you need to make a 100% natural British alpaca Ted. Knitters are invited to customise their finished Bears and submit photographs for display on the website. A winner will be chosen on December 1st 2008, who will enjoy the prize of a luxury weekend break in luxury self-catering accommodation at Toft Alpacas.
This pattern has been designed to appeal to both experienced and absolute beginners, being a very basic initial pattern, which requires as much or as little knitting experience as you have in the customisation. Warwickshire based Toft Alpacas have the fibre of their large herd of alpacas spun into knitting yarns less than thirty miles from the farm, the fibre does not undergo any dyeing or bleaching. The Teddy Bear is knitted using 100% Natural British Aran weight yarn and stuffed with alpaca fleece. The kit also contains sustainably harvested domestic birch hardwood needles, and a contrast colour yarn for sewing facial details and accessories.
Toft Teddy Bears will be available in Cream, Oatmeal, Dusty Brown and Chestnut Brown: directly reflecting the colours of the animals grazing the fields.
In addition to the Teddy Bear the new knitting kit range includes: 4ply Baby Alpaca Lacy Scarf, Wrist warmers, Ribbed Beanie and Ladies Sweater (all Double Knit), and Handbag (Aran weight). Some make perfect ‘first knit’ projects, whereas others are specifically designed for the experienced knitter. All are available on-line @ www.thetoftalpacashop.co.uk or by visiting the farm to meet the producers!
