The Toy Auctioneer
Author: teddygirl | Saturday November 24, 2007
The following is from the Toy Auctioneer.
It was a sad day for arctophiles around the world when Christie’s auction house closed its bear, doll and toy department last month [in September].
There is good news however and I¹m delighted to announce that former Head of Bears at Christie’s, Daniel Agnew, has helped set up a new auction company in order to fill the gap.
The Toy Auctioneer will operate traditional room auctions as well as online auctions via ToyMart (http://www.toymart.com ).
Plans for doll, toy and toy soldier sale for next year are well under way but arctophiles everywhere should head to Kensington Town Hall for The Toy Auctioneer¹s first ever bear sale which is due to take place on December 12th 2007.
Customers will be able to view the lot s at 1a Chelsea Manor Street, Conservative Association - just off the Kings Road next to Chelsea Town Hall, on December 9th and 10th.
The sale is set to be a real bear-nanza with lots including a rare and early Steiff Dancing Bear`Tanz-Bär¹ No.581-1, 1898 -1902 which has an estimate of £3,000-5,000 as well as a very rare black Steiff bear with original button estimated to go for £6000-£8000 + lots more besides.
The Toy Auctioneer¹s books are still open for the December bear sale so if you’re looking to sell any bears from your collection, or perhaps you were left a bear that you have no room for, then please contact Daniel Agnew for a free evaluation and next steps on daniel@thetoyauctioneer.com or 0207-870-8124
