National Zoo Panda may be pregnant again
Author: teddygirl | Tuesday June 12, 2007

Mei Xiang, the National Zoo panda who gave birth to Tai Shan about 22 months ago, may be pregnant again. Her hormone levels increased, but it is too early to tell. It could be a false pregnancy.

Mei Xiang was artificially inseminated by Gao Gao. Tian Tian is Tai Shan's father, and he is still healthy. Gao Gao is from a rarer genetic line so he was chosen instead.

Officials are closely monitoring Mei Xiang. Hopefully there Tai Shan will not be the only baby panda at the National Zoo!
