Tai Shan Update
Author: teddygirl | Friday March 02, 2007
National Zoo’s baby panda.
Tai Shan now lives separately from him mom Mei and has been since February 22nd. In the wild, panda cubs leave their mothers when they’re one and a half years old. Tai Shan is now 19 months old and weighs 107 pounds. Both mom and cub are doing well.
Since the separation, Tian Tian, the father, and Mei have been spending time together. They both like to run around the yard and eventually settle down to eat bamboo.
All the pandas now have access to the new indoor enclosure. Tai Shan, unlike the adults, was interested in the new area and liked the smells of it.
