President Ford helped national parks
Author: teddygirl | Monday January 15, 2007
President Ford, who was the 38th President of the United States, passed away last month. While many do not this, he worked for the National Park Service in Yellowstone in the summer of 1936. He was the only President to do so. Ford later said, "I remember as a ranger the first time I stood alone on Inspiration Point over at Canyon Station looking out over this beautiful land. I thought to myself how lucky I was that my parents' and grandparents' generation had the vision and the determination to save it for us."
Ford was a friend to national parks. While he was President, he added 18 new areas to the National Park System and increased others. May President Ford rest in peace.
